Changelog
| 2009-01-21 21:42:55 | Final edition of my home studio in Trondheim, Norway. The Guitar Hero microphone made the big change, though I\'m unsure if I\'m daring enough to try to talk into that thing :) |

Roland JP 8000
My 3rd proudness. The JP-8000 may be old, but I'm still fallen in true love with its Supersaws and the two-part multitimbrality that boosts the sound a huge notch while keeping a whopping, true 4 note polyphony :) Takes a little knowing to put it to good use, but it sure pays off. Just a simple jam is fun enough! Touch two parameters from the initial settings and you have your trance patch right there to play with :) BUT! How the hell do you turn off that insane MIDI Soft Thru?? It completely kills/crashes the two-way MIDI performances! It's still a damn cool synth =)
Access Indigo 2
Oh my god! I thought the Virus A was good, then I got this beast for almost the same price! My, my, my... It oozes of quality and an aura that just makes you look at it and admire the design, but you can't because that same aura forces you to linger a lust that just makes you play with it! THIS is my all time favourite synth. Me and the 37-key Access Virus Indigo 2, which equivalents a Virus C, just with a small keyboard, have had plenty of good hours where we just played around with the patches and ultimately improving them :) The thing is, its sound is exactly like the previous Virus models (A, B, PoCo), but the features are greatly enhanced with more polyphony (I could actually play two or three notes of my fully one-note unisoned UnisonLead made with the Virus A!). It is true that Viruses are infectious and also may develop with an increased amount of... let's just say features that one cannot fight just yet. :)
Access Virus A
My first love... Not actually, but sure it was in synth world. The Virus A was the first digital VA synthesizer that Access brought to us. I had only used simple software synths before my time with the Virus, but still I have created one or two soundsets with that thing. Look at it! It's so simple to operate! You have got everything that an analog synthesizer got right at the front panel, while the more advanced settings reside in the deep (Oh, for gods sake, people! They're not THAT deep) menus. You can make a powerful bass sound just by using one of the oscillators and one of the filters, and the pads it makes... *Drool...* Being their first synth I am completely baffled by the simplicity of the Virus A (Or just Access Virus as it originally was called). I bought it used and still use it! My first trancelead was made using that very synth. Then the other synths came along and... You know, it evolved into something much greater :) Think about layering two Viruses! Insane thought, don't you think? ;)
Access Virus TI Snow
*Naaaaawwhhh!* How cute isn't this? :D It's just a tiny Virus that they painted white and gave the nickname Snow... Low and behold, IT BITES! That little thingy sure got a good chunk of my JP-8000! It totally Hypersawed the JP's Supersaws! Such quality... It's still a Virus and therefore is compatible with ALL of my previous patches to the Virus A, C and even the Powercore! The Virus TI Snow is now Totally Integrated into my setup and either feeds the other synths with a tempo that's syncable (which I'm sure it loves), or does it's own amazing work as a plain stand-alone synth. But we can't forget the Atomizer, can we? That afflicting, infectious bastard that also challenges time can either kill your other synths and sounds or actually make a nice beat chopper for your vocals for instance. It only has half of the processing power that its more grownup brothers and sisters got, but it remains a pretty complete beast that's just lurking to bite those that tries to tame it, you can tell from its really scary pulsating EDIT-LED in standby-mode... :) No really, it's truly the greatest synth I ever played, and it's just a Virus that's been getting a facelift with another brain installed as a bonus! If programmed right, those sounds can never be challenged. Not counting the TI2 series of course. But hey! My Snow's got the same OS as they do ;) Fantastic piece of equipment, and it also comes with a very manly, practical bag that fits the synth, power cable, USB cable and of course, the very nice to have manual :)
Image Line FL Studio 8
What can one tell from FL Studio, formerly a simple MIDI step sequencer called Fruity Loops? It has become a magnificent, inspirational and producing sequencer capable of... sequencing :) I hook up all my synths and record the whole track using Edison. No need for bouncing the tracks if you have the true power (even this is pretty managable from within FL Studio's mixer options). I have been a customer of Image Line's products since I started to really make my living, August 2006 actually to be precise. I was so satisfied with their products that I bought them all and are frequently still using them to make my own creative works. Some would complain of the lack of PDC (Plugin Delay Compensation) that for example the Powercore and Virus TI needs, but as long as you discover the right settings and methods, of course if you two manage to get acquainted the right way, FL Studio it becomes a true delight to use.

Access PowerCore Virus
Even though this plugin has lost audience because of the many sync issues, crashes and frequent bluescreens, it still stays as one of my favourite plugins! The sound of it is definitely a Virus as the software is derived from the original Virus B code. (Cool! One could say that I actually own a Virus B entirely in its software mode now!)

D16 Group Phoscyon
Ahh... This plugin makes me smile :) The TB-303 lives up to the name of being a Transistor Bass... The D16 Group has captured the most of it in this software package! I don't own the real thing, but I'm sure this isn't far from it. One could say that the Phoscyon comes "pre-modded" with the Devilfish mod, and there is lots of stuff you can do with it.
D16 Group Classic Boxes Collection
Yeah, because of lack of space and money, this was the choice I had if I wanted to have those legendary boxes. The 303, 808 and 909 is truly some of the greatest machines ever built. Even though some say these boxes aren't much, who are they to claim such a thing when these are being used so freakin' often? :)

D16 Group Nepheton
Not wanting to repeat myself, but still, this is THE TR-808 emulation! :P It even has that tiny rim trigger sound that could be used for something... useful.
D16 Group Drumazon
This is THE TR-909 emulation. You get what you pay for, and it sends to separate mixer channels if needed. Just the sound of it makes me want the real thing more!
Evolution MK-461C
The F2 and E5 keys sometimes send double MIDI data, and the result is that notes get cut. Not good if you're performing nor recording! Other than that (which I'm sure has to do with this unit only), it is a nice MIDI controller. Lots of functions.
TC Electronic PowerCore firewire
This unit has given me all sorts of bluescreens, errors, sync issues, but still it possesses a fantastic sleek look, sound and integration with your host... :) I'm especially talking about the synths and effects that you get and not the blazing blue light that strikes through your heart as you power it on =)
