exper studio

This is a long way from my intial gear setup of a TR-808, TR-707, MC-202 and SH-101...

After ditching all analogs and going laptop for a while, I'm back to adding external gear again. I realized that I'm much more prolific/focused when I use gear as opposed to clicking away with a mouse constantly.

Clavia Nord Modular G2 Engine

My dream finally attained. I used to have a Micromodular and have always regretted selling it. The G2 engine more than makes up for it!

Oberheim Matrix 6

I finally ended my love of Roland polysynths with this. I've had 2 Juno 106s, and Apha Juno 2, and a Jx8p. After some voices died in my '106, I changed brands. This is a very deep synth. Warm, complex mods, great sound.

Elektron Machindedrum SPS-1UW

O_o This is a beast. So complex yet fun to use. I had the non UW version previously, but the UW is amazing. Especially when resampling live within the machine and generating all kinds of chaos...

KRK RP8

I'm happy with them. More than enough power. I'm glad I got the 8 inch version and not the 5 or 6.

Alesis MultiMix 8 USB

Really cheap and easy way to get 10 channels into my laptop. I wish it had an extra output for sends or whatever, but it works for me.

Native Instruments Komplete 5

Absynth and Reaktor are essentials. I rarely use Battery since using Maschine, and I never touch B4, Pro53 or the pianos. I'm trying to learn Kontakt eventually, as I know it is powerful, but I just don't use it yet. Guitar Rig is great. And not just for guitars!

Apple Logic Express 7.0

Sadly, I don't use this much. Live came along and make so much sense to me.

Native Instruments Maschine

What can I say. along with the Machinedrum SPS1UW, this brought back joy to my productions. I no longer always feel mired in mouse clicking, laptop mode. Get it!

Korg MS20 controller

I wish all softsynths came with a dedicated controller. This makes programming so much fun!

Novation Launchpad

I'm still on the fence about this. I initially had an APC40, but I didn't like that the controls were not labeled with LCDs like my Remote Zero, and I needed something with a smaller footprint. My problem with the Launchpad is that the lights under the buttons are not bright enough, and not uniform enough. Also, I actually find the side mounted USB port cumbersome. I'll hang onto this until the next and I'm sure better versions come along...

Novation ZeRO SL Mk II

Mainly used to control ableton live. I'm also working on an editor for the Oberheim Matrix 6 and also making a general interface for use with the Nord G2...
